WHAT IS SPEECH THERAPY??

SPEECH THERAPY IS... 
Speech therapy is a treatment method that helps children express their thoughts, understand what others are saying, improve memory, problem solving, communication skills and language skills. They also work with children that have food issues and difficulties such as swallowing.

SPEECH THERAPY CAN HELP INCREASE... 
Early language skills
Ability to use their voice
Language comprehension or how well you understand words and language. 
Fluence or how well and how comfortable you can use language
Clarity and expression or how easy you can communicate what you want
 Ability to speak and communicate

WHAT CONDITIONS ARE TREATABLE WITH SPEECH THERAPY? 
Anyone with a communication disorder will benefit along with hearing impairment or swallowing difficulties. 
Aphasia – if you have difficulty with reading, writing, speaking, and understanding language. 
Apraxia – if you know what you want to say but can’t form the words to get it out
Articulation disorder – if your unable to produce certain word sounds 
Cognitive communication disorder – if you may have difficulty communicating due to damaging  part of your brain that controls thinking. Listening, speaking, remembering things and problem solving may be difficult for you. 
Dysarthria – if you have slow or slurred speech
Expressive disorder – if you have difficulty getting words out or conveying their thoughts
Fluence disorder – this disrupts speed, flow and rhythm of speech such as stuttering and cluttering 
Receptive disorder – if you have difficulty comprehending or processing what others say. You may have limited vocabulary, trouble following directions, or become uninterested in conversations. 
Resonance disorder – these are health conditions that affect your oral or nasal cavities. These conditions can block air flow or alter vibrations which allow you to hear sounds such as cleft palate or swollen tonsils
